Course descriptionWhat happens when you find yourself in front of a camera and lights?
During the 10 sessions of this course you will take part in a very practical 'hands-on' acting class in front of a camera in a supportive and friendly environment.
You have probably learnt how to portray a character and use your voice and body within a theatrical environment but what happens when you find yourself in front of a camera and studio lights?
Our very experienced tutor will show you the specific demands of working in front of a camera and how to cope with the different situations you may be faced with.
You will learn to consider voice and vocal levels, expression, listening and reacting skills, as well as the importance of continuity and how to adapt your performance to the size of the shot.
As well as learning the technical side relevant to the actor, we will also be working with camera professionals and technicians so you will have a chance to see how you appear on screen and learn from watching yourself. You can then adjust your performance perfectly and subtly for the camera.
You will also learn what sort of language lighting cameraman and crew use and more importantly learn how you are expected to behave.
To join this course you must have successfully completed our Acting and Performance for Beginners course, or have previous relevant experience.
