  • Course description General information

    If you are not ready for an Access course or are returning to education after a prolonged break then the Level 2 Progression Diploma would be ideal for you. This course helps you develop the confidence to learn and provides an excellent preparation in all subjects for the Access course. You study three days a week for a year, improving your personal performance, developing your reading, writing and numeracy skills and getting a good introduction to IT. Science and Social Science topics are offered for those wishing to progress to the Access to Nursing and Social Work courses. This is a one-year course designed to boost your skills in preparation for joining the Access course the following year.

    Course content

    The course includes:

        * Improve your own learning
        * Literacy
        * Numeracy
        * IT
        * Social Science
        * Science

    Teaching and assessment

    The course uses many different assessment strategies including presentations, essays, exams, group discussion and project work.

    The Diploma is delivered using a combination of lectures, seminar groups and individual tutorials. Each will use a variety of approaches to engage different learners across the curriculum.

    Progression

    The Level 2 Diploma is designed to thoroughly prepare students for the challenges of an Access to HE course. Successful completion of the Diploma with the essential subject specialisms will guarantee you a place on our Access programme.
