ObjectivesThis programme aims to support the development of a professional approach to academic practice in higher education. Although the prime focus of this programme is on teaching, it is assumed that teaching responsibilities are inextricably linked to research, scholarship, administration and service responsibilities. The programme aims to help you develop critical reflection and judgement in order to establish principles for practice most appropriate to your own context.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements
The minimum qualification for entry to the programme will generally be a degree plus some higher education teaching experience. Normally, applicants will already hold a teaching position in a higher education institution.
The programme provides an opportunity to work on these through processes of skills development, practice-based inquiry, theoretical framing, scholarship, critical reflection and the marshalling of evidence to support experience-based claims to competence. While the development of skills (and technical knowledge) is integral to our approach, these skills are understood to be necessary, but not sufficient, for intelligent professional practice.
